There will be a special Encore Choir Festival presentation on March 8th at 7 pm in the First United Methodist Sanctuary.  This concert is free and open to the public.  It will feature two stellar choral groups from Washington: Western Washington University Advanced Treble Chorale and the Rogers High School Concert Choir from Puyallup.  These choirs have been selected to perform in the Northwest Regional ACDA ( American Choral Directors Association) convention being held in Portland.  This is an ideal opportunity to hear these excellent choirs in Vancouver prior to their performances in Portland.

The Vancouver Chamber Singers will also be performing.  This group is a semi-professional young adult choir of 35 singers in residence at First United Methodist Church.  The choir is directed by Joel Karn and features Thomas Rheingans at the piano.

An American in Paris

May 5  -  2018

7 pm

For the May 5th show, Thomas Rheingans will be performing a piano transcription of the famous George Gershwin orchestral piece “An American in Paris”.  Concert goers are in for a real treat!  This dynamic and challenging musical work is rarely heard as a solo piano piece. The show will feature other works by George Gershwin, Ravel, Copland, Charlie Parker, and Chopin.

The concert will feature jazz and gospel vocalist Camille Greenidge Bass.  Also on the playbill will be the Vancouver Chamber Singers.

The Vancouver Chamber Singers is quickly establishing itself as one of the premier vocal groups in Vancouver area.  This semi-professional, young adult choir is part of the larger Vancouver Choirs program which includes auditioned choirs for elementary and middle school singers.   The entire Vancouver Choirs program has been in residence at First United Methodists Choir in Vancouver since September of 2017.
